Move Your Body, Relax, and Recharge with Qigong

10 Minute Guided Practice Video

Today's WPW offers a 10 minute guided practice to help you move your body, relax, and recharge.

We can all use more of that, right?

Scroll down and explore the delightful Qigong move known as Cloud Hands.

Cloud Hands

Smooth, Connected, Relaxed Whole Body Movement

In Tai Chi and Qigong, there are many variations of a movement called "Cloud Hands."

Each version aims to move the whole body in a smooth, connected, relaxed manner.

In performing Cloud Hands, you exercise the entire body, gaining the benefits of physical activity, without pounding the joints or straining.

You also stimulate circulation of all the body's fluids, including blood, lymph, interstitial fluid, and synovial fluid, supporting healthy functioning of all the body's systems and organs.

According to Qigong theory, you also stimulate and balance the circulation of Qi, or internal energy, further contributing to health, healing, and vitality.

In the video below, I guide you through a version of Cloud Hands taught by my main teacher, Master Bruce Frantzis. The movement is part of a Qigong system described in his book Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body.

Cloud Hands

An Enjoyable, Versatile Practice

Cloud Hands is a favorite practice among students at Chicago Tai Chi. It's straightforward to learn at a basic level. And it provides a wonderfully versatile exercise.

You can try it in the morning as a "wake-up" practice.

You can use it during the day when you need a break to get up and move.

You can use it as a warm-up before Tai Chi or other exercise.

In the video below, I guide you through each movement component, then how to coordinate your "moving parts" into an increasingly connected whole.

Give it a try!
